changing doctors

I had been going to a doctor who was only 5 minutes from my house. It was convenient and the doctor was okay enough. She didn't talk to me much and my visits lasted about 5 minutes. I spent 45 minutes, at least, in the waiting room every time I went. I didn't think anything of it because this is my first pregnancy so I didn't know what the visits should be like. I was talking to my mom one day telling her about my doctor and she did not seem pleased. She told me my doctor should be significantly more informative especially considering this is my first pregnancy. So I started shopping around, just reading reviews on other doctors. I finally found one that seemed perfect to me. 45 minutes from home but I thought I'd give it a try. I went to my first appointment with this doctor yesterday and I was blown away. She is absolutely amazing! She told me all kinds of stuff that I didn't know and didn't know I needed to know. She was nice, helpful, and very knowledgeable. She gave me samples of prenatal vitamins to try and talked me through the dos and donts of pregnancy. The amount of stress relieved off of my back was crazy. I didn't even realize how worried and frustrated I had been with the other doctor. My blood pressure was 20 points lower at this office and I feel like that has a lot to do with the friendly staff and the relaxing atmosphere. I guess what I'm trying to get at here is, if you're even the slightest bit displeased with your doctor don't be afraid to browse a little. Definitely read up on your doctors too. Reviews are very helpful. Just don't settle! Remember this man or woman will be bringing YOUR child into this world and I know you want the very best person for that job!
