FTM question! Cribs?

This maybe a silly question but I never really thought about it until recently. We have a crib and a pack and play with a bassinet. Are babies supposed to go in the crib right after birth or do they have to be a certain age? Or is it preference? We have a 1 bedroom house so both will be in close proximity to us. Only 7w here so lots of reading and learning ahead of me!

I think it's just personal preference. I had both a pack n play and a crib. I had the pack n play on the first floor of the house for use during the day and then baby slept in full size crib in my room (2nd floor) at night since day 1. I think people use bassinets so baby can sleep close to their bed since (im guessing) most people don't have room for a full size crib in their room.

It's simply up to you my son has never been in a crip he has slept in his pack n play bassinet or in bed with us.

You can absolutely put baby in crib as soon as they are born. I would say most people don't because they keep baby in their room right by their bed. I originally planned to use a bassinet but after lots of trial and error, my daughter slept in a rock n play (until she was about 7 months old). It's inclined which is comfortable for little babies and she slept so well in it. The transition to her crib wasn't that bad. I highly recommend rock n play right next to your bed!
