Can't tell if he likes me?

Hey I'm looking for some advice about this guy that I like because we talk all the time but every few days he'll ignore me completely. But on the days when he won't talk to me he always looks at me from across the room and keeps staring and I cant tell what his deal is. My friends think he likes me and when we do talk he always leans in close and touches my knee but I have no idea where I stand with him. Can I have your opinions please?
