Ultrasound-Can you keep it a surprise these days?

Question

We are at the very beginning of TTC so please excuse our ignorance but if/when we do get pregnant we truly want to keep the sex a surprise. Is that possible with today's technology or are you always able to tell at some point? So the poll question is, can you still keep it a surprise?

If you tell them you don't want to know, it's totally possible. I'm due in a few weeks and have no idea what the gender is.

They have to position the ultrasound in a specific plave to see te gender so if you dont go there, i dont think youd ever know

I am currently 21 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and I have not found out the sex of any of them 😊

Definitely possible, just tell them you don't want to know (and give a reminder at each US).  There are occasional cases where they have to tell you because something isn't right, but that's rare.

I am 30 weeks and do not know the sex of my baby.  Just make sure every ultrasound you have you tell them you do not know and do not want to know.  We even had it scratched out of our file so that no one could slip up and talk about 'him/her'

Make sure the techs don't tell you. It will be in your medical file tho.

At 20w we told them we where having a party so don't tell us. The following week at my OBs first question was "you don't know the sex right?" I told them we had found out and was glad they asked first!!

I just had an ultrasound halfway through the pregnancy and this was my concern as well. I reminded the tech that we really don't want to find out, and she had us close our eyes at certain points. They told me I probably wouldn't know what I was looking at but I doubted that to be true so I closed my eyes. Even though the baby was very active and the image very clear, they were able to steer clear of letting me see anything. At one point another tech came into the room and I almost forgot to tell her not to mention the gender. But we made it though without finding out!

The technician said she was going south to look at the gender.  My husband and I watched....and had no idea.  They can find the area so fast, and from random angles.  I was looking for the view of 2 legs that everyone posts but never saw 2 legs and then she said she was done!

All three of mine have been a surprise, just tell them you don't want to know the gender when you go in and they will just really quickly look to make sure it's all ok and you won't even notice
