Normal sized baby w/ GDM

A sweet lady posted on this board to let us know that having GDM does not necessarily mean a big baby or an unhealthy baby. I thought to share my story and add one more post about GDM not negatively affecting baby.

My water broke and I went into labor fast and furious at 36w2d. Baby was early term but very healthy (and feisty). He weighed 5lbs1oz and his blood sugars were really good. We were discharged after 3 days.

For all of you GDM moms, hang on in there! I know the fear of the GDM harming baby very well. But just because you have it doesn't mean that your baby must be big or have glucose issues. Yes, there is that potential threat but you can hit by a car crossing the street. Keep up the good work controlling your blood sugar, walk a bunch and you and baby will do fine. Xoxo
