I'm having trouble pumping milk. I can barely get 1oz. My daughter feeds with no problem but for some odd reason I can't seem to pump much. How can I pump more? I have an electric Medela pump in style pump.

I was having the same problem. I'm embarrassed to say I was using the pump wrong. Are you pumping both breasts at the same time? If not, the other tube attachment needs to be blocked. Six weeks I spent doing everything on the internet to increase my supply, when it was just user error.

Once you have enough pumped for one feeding, skip a night's feeding and give a bottle instead. Pump when your breasts feel engorged, it's a good way to see how much you can actually pump without competing with your baby. This is what I do, and I get enough for one bottle and save the rest.

Make sure you have the correct size breast shield. Try breast compression while pumping. Pump while watching your baby or looking at photos/videos of your baby. Pump first thing in the morning when you have the most milk. Try multiple stimulation/letdown phases: when milk stops flowing switch back to stimulation phase again just like your baby would to trigger another letdown.
