Opinion's much appreciated.
I have a very hard decision to make and I can't get real answers from my family and friends. I feel as if they're not really giving me 100% their opinion.
I broke my hip when I was 8 years old. I have had several surgeries. My last surgery was June 2012 when I had turned 18 years old. I decided to have a total hip replacement. After a month, I was walking. Followed hip precautions for 6 months and I felt like a "normal" person for once in my life. I finally could walk around college without a limp.
November 2016 my hip dislocated. I spent a week and a half on crutches. I seen my doctor the other day and he says I have to follow hip precautions for the rest of my life. He thinks that my hip may be rusting so I had to get tested and l will see him in a month. My hip hasn't felt the same. I'm in constant pain and refuse to take strong pain meds. I was so used to living "normal" for 4 years that I am devasted that I have to follow restrictions for the rest of my life. It has ruined my career goal. Everything I have worked for.
I'm asking your opinion on this: Would you have another total hip replacement if it meant getting your life back even if it was only for a couple years? Or would you just make peace and follow these restrictions for the rest of your life?
I am strongly considering doing the surgery again, I'm 22 and I feel as if my life is over.
Opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
