On and off the Nuvaring

I'm currently on the Nuvaring.. it's the first form of birth control I've ever taken.. I got it from Planned Parenthood and I paid $125 for it.. I am a part time worker so buying it takes a toll on my check.. i just want to ask if it's okay for my body to be able to buy the birth control whenever i feel I'll be okay to afford it? Say if I buy the ring this month then not for two months then again then not again then again and again lol
