Is upgrading really necessary?

So my Husband and I are currently living in a spacious 1 bed room 1 bath apartment and our lease is up on May 28 and we want to renew, our due date is July 2. We got the 1 bed room because we could easily afford it and the money we save on a 1 bedroom goes to other things like saving and trips. We want a house but we're young and want to rent and build our credit more. Is it really necessary for us to get a 2 bedroom for the baby's first year of life?
