Period Sex

Should you have it? Does it just make everything awkward? My boyfriend and I are in a very physical, passionate relationship but we have yet to venture into period sex. And we've never really talked about it either (my cycle timing was always just on days when I wasn't seeing him). But now he wants me to come over and I dont know how to bring up the whole period sex thing idk ahh
