Christmas light trouble?

So I got this Christmas tree from my mother in law and the lights are like built in but when we hooked it all up some of the sections of the tree blink with lights, some don't come on at all and like 1/4 of the tree just stays on like I pictured the tree to do. Is there any way to fix this or should I just get a brand new tree? I just thought it was cute to have the tree my hubby grew up with :/

Or you can use the tree and add your own lights, screw the built in ones.  Then you're getting to use something you want and can still have it all lit up

You can always just put some lights on it where they dont work . Make it your own tree. since you want some sentimental value for your SO i would say just use it the way it is and there is nothing wrong with that. Or ask your SO what he thinks and go from there.

There's probably a bulb out somewhere. Pain in the ass, but if you try to find it and replace it, it will probably work again.

Lots of times Christmas lights will have a bulb called a blinker that will control whether the strand stays lit or blinks at random intervals. If you can find the blinker and replace it with a non blinking bulb it will stop. I know this because we switch our strands from blinking to non blinking this way. The blinker can be a bitch to find though.
