Shooting pain in armpit?

Does anyone know any reasons for shooting pain under the left armpit? It comes on now and again and leaves a dull ache for about 30secs afterward. It only began today and cant think of any reason why it would be happening and reading things online has me worried. Im going to the doctors in the morning but just in the mean time does anyone have an idea?
