No Santa??

Question

So I'm having my first child in March and me and my SO have been discussing different things when it comes to raising him. One thing I don't want to do is the whole Santa thing. I never got the purpose of it mostly when in the end kids learn he isn't real. But then again I remember enjoying leaving a note with some milk and cookies as a kid lol so I'm torn. Is this weird of me or is there something I'm missing? Anyone else feel the same?

"In the end" is usually when the child is 9 or 10. My daughter is 8 and still believes. Why not let them enjoy their innocence and excitement while they are young. Theirs no harm in it

I would do it. When I realized santa wasn't real (I was probably 6?) i did not feel betrayed at all. It was fun for me as a kid as it is for most kids. I'm gonna do it with my kids. It's just fun. I don't see any harm in it at all

My kids will not believe in Santa. I did when I was a kid my mom did the whole cookie thing but I rather teach them what Christmas is really about.

We dont do the whole santa brings presents deal we do the christmas tree and presents but the presents are from family we also dont do the easter bunny with our son but he knows who and what they are hes 3 1/2 so for now we dont have to worry about him spoiling it for anyone but when he can understand we will teach him that there are others that believe its best not to ruin it for them my mom was disappointed when we said no santa but she doesnt say a word

a thing about Santa is kids at school or wherever might say "I got a PS3 for Christmas, brand new!" and another might say "I got mittens and a coat for Christmas, but I wanted a PS3". :-( kids will be wondering why Santa favored another child more, which is sad in my opinion. just explain it to your child what it means for other children and what it all means to different people. same with any other thing like this.

Personally for me I'm glad my mother did it. Made me appreciate her a lot more for doing it. We still always reference Santa and she still writes from Santa on the packages. It was a memory I cherish from my childhood but that's me ☺️

I'm torn on this too. I felt so betrayed by my parents when I found out Santa wasn't real. And the easter bunny, tooth fairy. I just don't know if I'll do it or not. Dear lord I don't even want to hear the fit my mother will throw if I don't lol

I was only ever bullied for it, therefore my future children will not be raised to believe in Santa.  I'm also not comfortable lying to my future child/children.

If you don't believe he exist, cause he doesn't, why tell your kid that he does? Unless you're still writing letters...
