His last name or mine?

I got pregnant out of marriage which has me very very upset. I don't know what last name im suppose to give the kid now. His father left me on thanksgiving so my parents assumed I'd use my last name. 
Well last night my mom posted my scan and used my last name. All her idiot friends thought she was having another baby (she's 65 that's why I call then idiots) 
But my dad was freaked out by that and I really was too. 
My ex is spanish so they traditionally keep both last names. his is the main. 
Im just dont know what to do. 
It's so upsetting.

You can always hyphenate the name! My brother has had 3 kids, a set of twins and one single child with two different girls. Both of them gave the kids his last name. For the twins it was important because they were boys and they kept his last name going. However, it's whatever you want to do. If you aren't sure of it hyphenating is a great way to compromise! Especially cause in my opinion, together or not he still helped create your child and for that hopefully you are thankful!

My son who is eight has his father's last name. Baby girl due March 16 will have mine and I'm getting my sons last name changed to mine as well.

Sorry to hear you're going through this. My child's father is unsure about his future involvement with the baby. He's been a good friend but not showing much interest in being a father. That being said I decided to give the baby my last name (mine is better anyway 😊). I plan to put the father's name on the birth certificate and not even going to discuss it with him. If it's important to him for baby to have his last name, then he will let me know and he can pay for it to be hyphenated on the birth certificate.
