1 Hour Glucose Test
So, I had to go in for my 1 hour glucose test today, and my poor SO accidentally tried to sabotage me. He did try to help, he remembered that I said a high protein breakfast would be good, so he made bacon and eggs. The problem being is he's too attached to his cast iron and they make scrambled eggs taste gross, IMO, especially since he doesn't scramble them much so they're a cross between scrambled and fried. Ate two bites and felt nauseous (so he fed the rest to the dogs, one of which I had to put on a diet, but that's a different story...). Anyway, I did my usual morning thing of trying to feel human again, wandered back into the kitchen and caught him in the small bag of Andes mints that I just picked up yesterday, and had hidden in the pantry so I wouldn't be tempted to eat them today. So I was stuck drooling over them and being upset that he was probably eating up my entire very small chocolate stash. Got some more to drink and the next time I wandered into the kitchen there he is eating chips and salsa. Finally got him off to work (second shift, but he left early to do some other stuff, thank goodness, otherwise he would have been in the ice cream). Decided after 11, that hypoglycemia was more imminent than hyper, and had a nice little snack of peanut butter and apple slices (one of my favorite snacks, and nobody yell at me, the pb doesn't have any added sugar), even though my stomach was still a bit off. Tried not to stress, and made it to my appointment with no issues, was met at the lab door by the tech before I had time to get my papers in the box, and the lemon lime drink wasn't half bad. Then for the 1 hour wait. Brought my earbuds so I could watch Netflix, but that didn't stop the guy sitting across from me from trying to talk with me every 2 minutes (he wasn't there when I sat down, but his wife was). And then there was the woman (and husband) who had the entire waiting room (it's divides into several smaller sections) to choose from and decided that she's going to sit with me in my seat for 2 (which I had picked on purpose so I could stretch a little, as needed) and talk with her husband over the back of the seat (not sure why they chose back to back seats...). Got very achy ribs on one side by the end of the hour and was feeling like I would be dizzy getting up. At 2 on the dot I marched back over to the lab (I was told I had priority since there's only a small window of time that the test is valid), much to the chagrin of the other couple who had been waiting for a little more than 5 minutes. Randomly was one of the easiest blood draws ever, but they don't do any testing there, so after all that I still have to wait at least 3 days to get my results. As soon as I was done I got out of there as quickly as my belly would allow, because I was finally hungry. And by hungry I mean starving. Of course I got stuck in a long line of cars behind a truck going 30mph. And no, I haven't touched the chocolate yet, had a big bowl of leftover teriyaki chicken (got up so early yesterday to get it in the crockpot for a nice lunch with my SO, totally forgot he was leaving early yesterday, too...pregnancy brain is getting worse) with broccoli and rice. How has everyone else's glucose tests gone?
