what the frick is the sleep lady shuffle?!?

I know it's a sleeping method but what does it consist of? All a google search brings up is how great it is but no details on how to do it! Someone fill me in??

Basically it's when you establish a bedtime routine for your baby, and then after you do all of those things in the same order, you put your baby in the crib awake and sit next to the crib until baby falls asleep on his or her own. The idea is that you're still there supporting them, but they're falling asleep on their own. After a couple of nights, you move your seat farther away from the crib, like a couple of feet toward the door. Then leave when baby is asleep. Eventually the chair ends up at the door, and after that, you don't need it at all. It never worked for me, lol.
