does an IUD hurt?

My best friend had an iud put in a few days ago and she said it was one of the most painful things shes done! Everyone else that i know whos gotten one has had children before and supposedly it isnt as painful/uncomfortable if youve already been dilated before? Is that true?

I was 22 no kids but not a Virgin. Maybe my pain tolerance is higher than some/most? But it really wasn't even bad...it was all done in a matter of seconds. First he used the little speculum thing to open me up, stuck the measiring took in to see how far in to the top of my uterus, told me to breath and that there's be a slight pinch, cut the strings, and it was done! To me if felt like a strong pinch feeling and then a very intense period cramp but that lasted maybe 15 seconds? And it was over. I've had more painful periods than that procedure haha

Mind you, this doctor had done maaaany so he was quick about it which didn't really give me time to think so guess that probably helped. He wanted me on my period so that my cervix was softer and it would hurt less but I wasn't on my period and it honestly was not even that bad. To each their own though, some might hurt less some might hurt more. Just depends on you and our body and the doctor!

I did have it removed as well and that was just as quick! That was about the same as the procedure but quicker lol just a pinch and it was out! :)

I got it at my 6 week PP checkup and yes it hurt, but I was just a pinch and then cramping. Not bad at all. Kinda like when your man goes to deep lol.
