travel with baby??

Hi all!
So I'm due July 17 and have already booked (wayyy in advance I know) to travel uk to New York next December. Has anyone else taken a few month old on a long plane journey? How did baby act? I know everyone is different but I just wouldn't want to put them in unnecessary distress with a plane ride and all, I have got the chance to cancel but it's a family hol so I'd be changing everyone else's plans! So just wanting to get some advice? I'm a first time mum so absolutely terrified about everything!! So all previous experiences would be grately appreciated :) much love ladies!

I am actually currently on vacation with my daughter. She turned 7 months a few days before our flight. We flew from Tennessee to North Carolina and then to Germany. She did amazing on the flights. We had a bassinet from the airline and she played in it most of the flight. The time change has been hell through, her sleep schedule is pretty much nonexistent.

Most of my friends have taken a trip with their babies before maternity leave ended (in the US so their leaves were about 12-16 weeks) they were "shorter" trips to Mexico and the Caribbean but everything was fine. I was on a flight from Chicago to Paris with a newborn across the aisle and he did great. The mom reserved a bulkhead seat and the airline (United) gave her a bassinet for him. Otherwise she just breastfed and walked around with him as needed.

I would say talk to your pediatrician to make sure your baby as all the shots it needs (planes are germy!) and read as much as you can on how to travel efficiently and happily with a baby and you will be good.

I'm in New Zealand and a few people I know went to the UK and one to Croatia. They all said the airlines were quite helpful and baby was fine.

I haven't yet traveled with my own baby but I just went on an overseas trip and two people had infants. They had seats at the bulkhead (the dividing wall between cabins) and the flight crew brought these nifty bassinets that attach right to the bulkhead wall,in front of the parents so they were able to sleep in comfort throughout the flight. You might want to look into that!
