How does one choose a Breast Pump?

Question

How do I go about choosing a breast pump? And does anyone know of which ones are electric and can be powered on the road (in your car)? Help!

I would love to know your experiences and details of why you would choose one vs the others?

I asked friends and colleagues (will be pumping at work). I also read Amazon reviews. Ultimately, I wanted a spectra (closed system, hospital grade), my insurance covered the S2, but I believe read the S1 is rechargeable..so you could run it in a car.

I used a Medela Pump in Style Advanced for 14 months. Used it 5-6 days/week to pump during 12-hour work days. It was great! I bought a battery pack for it and it worked well. There may also be a car adapter available, I never looked since I had a battery pack. It's not extremely quiet but I was pumping at work and my coworkers already knew the drill. I kept plenty of sterilized parts ready to roll so I didn't have to wash parts every night.

My breast pump is called purely yours ameda brand. It's a double electric. I exclusively pump so I'm recommending this based on my experiences with medela brand vs. ameda.  Medela has more parts to wash Than Ameda and is much louder (when your baby is sleeping a quiet pump is so great! You can also use batteries or buy a separate car AC plug. It's tiny too compared to most pumps. The only con I have about this one is you have to replace parts a lot--- only because I exclusively pump though. Good luck xx
