pill problems

So I had sex with my bf and he accidentally came in me. I'm on birth control and always take it at the same time every day. For some reason this day while I was getting ready I had forgotten to take it. I didn't realize this until I got home and seen it sitting on my dresser. What are the chances that the birth control will still give me protection even if I took it taker on in the evening ?
