I don't understand guys

Alright, so here's my dilemma and rant. Every guy I have ever been with it was because I took a leap of faith and always made the first move and messaged them first. I've never had a guy make the first move...and I'd love to know why!! I seriously doubt it's because I'm intimidating looking...are guys just too scared these days? Any inputs or experiences with the same thing??
