If you were wealthy would you still want your kids to have a job while still in school/living at home?

So this doctor I know was telling me how he doesn't want his kids to get a job or do any type of work experience that isn't career related because it's degrading to have customers abuse them all day for no reason when they don't even need the job to begin with.

That is just ridiculous lol this is the real world it doesn't matter how much money you have. They'll probably teach their kids to never work either just because they have a lot of money. Just ridiculous lol.

It's all about your opinion and what you think is best for your kids. Fast food which is one of the few places you can work underage. Can be very stressful especially if you are struggling with school or have sports or theater. Waitressing can be VERY stressful also. I don't think people understand how hard highschool has gotten. How mean the teachers are. How some don't teach you anything and exspect you to know the stuff the next day. What if they are being bullied in school? Then you go force them to get a job? You shouldn't ever make a high schooler get a job. If they want one and can handle it then fine but forcing your kids to work in high school may be causing more damage than helping. So it isn't that he snotty it's probably because he knows how stressful it can be and he wants his kids to focus on school and only school. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I wouldn't make them work during school because school just keeps getting harder especially with AP classes. I took them in high school and I can't imagine having tried to work with that and extra curriculars on the side. However, I worked during the summer because I wanted money for my things. And Christmas gifts. I usually saved my money to save for Christmas gifts. Haha. I'm in college now and still don't work during college because my anxiety would not let me. And I don't see anything wrong with that. I worked my butt off in school to get scholarships to where I only have to pay like $200 a semester and for books. And I'd hate lose them now.

Having a job teaches so much about life. I honestly think it makes a person better. My kids will be getting jobs in high school. Nothing crazy. But they will learn responsibility.
