How long did you guys wait ?

Finally got my Mirena IUS in today (yay), but the doctor said to keep using a condom until my 6 week check up. I'm really confused because Mirena website says that the IUS iseffective immediately if input within 7 days of the first day of your period, which I am. How long did you ladies wait ?

When I got mine, I had sex 2 or 3days after with no condom my doctor said it's effective as soon as it's put inn. But I already had my period

I got mine put in on my period and waited about two days to have unprotected sex

i got mine during my period and once my period was over, about 5 days. we had sex without a condom.

My doctor said to use condoms just because for the first couple weeks you're more susceptible to infection

This may have more to do with an increased risk of infection rather than risk of pregnancy.

It's good within a week, your doctor might just want to make sure it hasn't moved at all. I waiting like 5 days and was fine but I got it inserted in my period
