As long as baby is rooting I should offer?

She's 4 days old so I'm super new at this. She will sometimes nurse like a champ for 20-30 min, but other times will be fussing and rooting so I'll offer and she'll only nurse for a couple minutes and fall asleep. Is this normal? Can you offer too much?

The rooting might just be her wanting to nurse for comfort which is completely normal.

I nurse on demand. So he roots I offer. Sometimes it is just for comfort or to sooth himself. I have become a human pacifier.

Sounds like she is comfort nursing to fall asleep. I would continue if that's what she wants. Then you don't have to worry if she is hungry or not 💐

If mine roots, I offer. I bf on demand and it's worked for us. She also nurses for comfort and nurses to sleep. She however, will not take a binky so I'm it lol

She might just be thirsty. I didn't even think of babies getting thirsty until a consultant told me that they will have short feeds just to have a drink. I think mine sometimes just likes to have a top up too as I'll feed her and then she might feed again for a few minutes shortly after and then drift off. It's like she couldn't quite finish her meal and has the rest a bit later on haha.

Everyone always told me to 'wake her up' .. I never did. I fed her when she was hungry and for as long as she'd latch and that's it
