what made your midwife great?

As a student midwife I am always interested in hearing your experiences with your midwife. So, my question is what made her so great? Did she have a great assistant? What could she have done better? I would love to hear all about it!

She listens to my husband and i without judgement and gives her honest opinions on all our comments, questions and concerns. She's a real person.

I was with a midwife team at the hospital for my last verse and do not want to go back there again. They weren't bad, but they rotated me through to see a different provider for every appointment so I never had a relationship with anyone. I honestly couldn't even tell you if I had met the Midwife who was there when I birthed my baby. Couldn't even tell you her name now. 
Listening to you and not saying oh but we have to do XY and z because protocol. There are other ways to communicate things. 
As a good general rule do not accuse clients of infidelity to their husbands when they tell you that they have irregular menstrual cycles and suspect that their due date is off because they and their husband were not together at the time when you say conception occurred. 
Don't talk down to pregnant mamas assuming that they haven't researched any of the answers. Try to have more of a conversation less of a lecture.

I'm 24 weeks so I don't have any input on birth. But so far what makes them great is that they see me as a person. My first experience with a midwifery practice overseen by an OB was terrible. I was treated badly because of my size. I was jumping through hoops the entire time to prove that I could be healthy despite my size. The midwives I see now look at me, my history, activity level, diet. They don't just look at the scale. Fat friendly care is super important.

My midwife has been my best support system. My husband's parents are both dead and my family are on other states and other country.. she knows my worries so she keep my head up and she was like a Mom to me.
