new tattoo. need help asap

So I got my tattoo last Thursday and until now it has been pretty good just a little sore. Well today the itching has started. It is hell. I can't scratch it and I'm slowly dying from it. Even the aquaphor (the brand my place referred over a&d) isn't helping me out. I can't start using a lotion until Thursday and I've heard you aren't supposed to use the ointment much either. The tattoo is now in the scabbing process so I'm trying to be careful how I interact with it but what can I do to help the itching.
