8 week checkup: what to expect?

This is my first pregnancy, I'm due August 17th. My first checkup is January 4th, what should I expect??!!?! They'll do an ultrasound right? I'm dying to see my baby! So far I haven't had very severe symptoms (I'm 5w5d, mood swings/fatigue are the most common symptoms). I'm looking for a pregnancy buddy or just some guidance! We haven't told family yet (waiting until Christmas eve) so I have a million questions and no one to turn to except this app and google 😬

I have my first one this Friday, the 23rd. I will keep you posted, but as far as I know it is just to establish patient history, get vitals, probably take blood, etc. I have not heard whether or not there will be an ultrasound, however I have been cramping on my left side which I will mention and they might want to make sure it's not eptopic.

It depends on your doctor. Most do an ultrasound to make sure baby is in the right place and all that good jazz. They also do a pap/swab to test for any STD's so that they can treat you if any are present. They take your weight, talk about any concerns they or you have, and usually give you a list of medications and foods that are safe or not safe for pregnancy.

My OB does not do ultrasounds until 12 weeks, I'd confirm you are getting one before you go if you want one

I'm due on the 14th, I also have my first appointment on the 4th. I will be getting an ultrasound that day then I go back the next Wednesday for my first appointment with my doctor.

This is my third baby but first time going to an OB & my first appointment is on the same day! So I just came on to ask the same questions! I really hope I get an early ultrasound too!
