Are you going to put your child on a leash?

I feel like leashes are for pets, but maybe they have some pros for a kiddo? 
Leash stories that a for or against it please.

Ive always thought it was stupid. But once i became a aunt. It was nice in crowded places. Kids like to walk around. And id be scared to let me kid walk around with alot of strangers around us.

I normally would say no way, but I went to the Grand Canyon this summer and this family had their 2 year old on a leash. I thought that was a pretty good idea.

Totally using one, it's on her dresser right now. I know she's not an animal but I don't want her running off either. So hate it or love it my daughter will have one

I always said no tell I became a parent. I seriosuly thing my daughter would love to be able to run around and walk instead of being in a stroller

For certain places I would say yes. Especially if that child was prone to running off and getting lost

I would normally say no but I do believe for some children they are necessary.  For example, the 3 year old autistic child I care for should probably have one.  She does not listen or understand dangerous situations.  She will walk right in front of a car.  She does not want her hand held and will fight you.  This is a child I would use a leash for.

I personally don't plan on it. But I definitely understand why some people do. My MIL had 3 kids, two of which were twins. Abut 4 years in the age difference. The oldest boy never had a leash. The girl twin never had a leash. But the boy twin did, he had the tendency to wander off. He has always had somewhat of a short attention span. And knowing all of her kids as adults I can still see why he was the only one with a leash, it was simply safer and didn't need to worry so much about keeping a close eye on just the wanderer. Easier to keep track of all the kids.
