What do you think of promise rings?

So I wanted to do this poll because I was curious on everyone elses opinions on promise rings. I have never understood the point of them. What exactly is being promised? That they love you and want to be with you forever? Then they can just tell you that. If they just want to get you jewelry, then they can get you anything else. Or get me a cute ring just don't call it a "promise ring". Then you put the promise ring on your ring finger as of it was an engagement ring? But you're not engaged🤔 I don't get it🙄 If my SO is gunna get me a nice, expensive ring than I'd want it to be an engagment ring. If it's not, that's cool too, but it's like promise rings are "pre-engagement" rings, it seems. Doesn't make sense to me lol. Not bashing anyone that has or has given a promise ring, good for y'all, I just don't see the point lol

They are cute when you're in high school but any older than that and it's pointless.

I think the point is that it's for younger people. Adults usually don't do promise rings because they can just get engaged and then married. Teenagers, especially in high school, usually aren't legally old enough to get married or aren't ready but may want to do something to show their commitment but not going as far as getting engaged(?) lol and that's where promise rings are most relevant. I can see why people get them but it's not for me.

I had one. I gues it depends on the age. It lasted like 6 months with my bf and that promise ring became worthless lol

I'm 38 me and my guy that's 27 we both wear wedding bands. We aren't married but call each other wifey and hubby. It's mostly to keep the ladies away since he's a good looking and very charming guy. Lol. The ring nor a wedding license is no guarantee of a relationship. It's just a piece of paper and a piece of metal. It doesn't mean you will last forever. There's millions of people that get a divorce every day. To me it's just a symbol of love and affection from him.  That's pretty much how I feel when I look at it.

I had a simple silver ring that said true love waits..  It was his promise after our rocky/weird start that we had a future. At the one year mark we knew we were getting who we went to the jeweler to get my engagement ring.  It doesn't have to be expensive or big or even a diamond.

I don't care for any type of ring. I hardly ever even wear my weeding ring. My husband knows how I feel and he feels the same way.
