Would you be a little upset?

So we told my MIL we're expecting. Her reply? "Well I think she needs to get her tubes tied" No I'm happy for you, no congratulations, nothing but that. Now this is our 3rd pregnancy and will be our 4th child since we adopted one if that makes a difference. To me I don't care if we had 1 kid or 10 kids it's not a very nice response. I didn't really say anything as I was taken back by her response. Am I over reacting or would you be upset too? What would you say to her about her response?

Wow, shocking rude, is she the one supporting the whole family? Children are a blessing, your future and they always make sense... She must be bitter about something else, or just plain jealous.

So rude. But you seem like a person who is chill and killed her with your kindness. Now if it was my MIL, I'd tell her my body, my pregnancy. You won't take care of them, or raise them. I will. So what's with your negative response? Tie my tubes... and just leave.
I know you were caught in the moment and couldn't reply quick enough due to the shock of her awful reply.. at least your husband should say something!

This kind of thing is what makes me hate people. My husband and I tried for this baby  and we have two older children 7 and 5.. the response I get "don't you know what causes that..." yep.. and as much as we get it on, I'm surprised we don't have 15.... shuts them up everytime.. :)

Wow that's really a bitch answer. You're not over reacting at all. I don't understand why people feel the need to comment on a woman's body and choice to have children. I would respond, well if you think I should have my tubes tied you must not be interested in seeing grandchildren then. I'll remember that.

To me as long as you have the money to support them and most of all love, have as many as you want. Congratulations! 🎉 and I know it's hard but just be happy and not think about her negatively. Unless she supports the kids financially or has been asked  to much of her with her responsibilities she should be happy for you and just love her grandma roll.

After 2 children, pregnancy isn't exciting to people anymore.

I'm a little aggressive and if my partners mother said that to me I would've lost it on her. Good for you for not doing that.
