Was just wondering if these gender charts I've seen that tell you what days to make love on for a boy or girl has any truth to them and also certain sex positions that I've heard of or are all these just silly myths?

There are several conflicting theories out there One recommends timing sex several days before ovulation for a boy, the other one suggests the exact opposite.

As far as I could see none of them have been supported by scientific evidence, so I wouldn't put too much faith in any of them. (I'm a biologist, early in pregnancy I amused myself by looking at a few clinical studies)

The only reliable way to influence the probability seems to be sperm sorting (x and y sperm have very slightly different weights, so can be separated by centrifuging them). You'll need artificial insemination of course.

Or IVF with gender selection, if you're going down that route.

I can't remember the name of the theory. But it states girls sperm is slower and lives longer inside the vagina.

Based on that theory I should be having a boy as I had sex the day of or before ovulation.

I am. I didn't even know about the theory until I knew the sex of my baby lol

If you mean the Chinese gender chart then yes it's just for fun. I know that female sperm live longer, male sperm are quicker. So they say to increase your chance of a boy have sex close and on the day you ovulate. To increase chance of a girl have sex a few days before you ovulate. Again though it's more just to increase your chance of a certain gender it's never a for sure thing.

Some are myths. There is some scientific evidence to having sex during a certain time of your ovulation cycle to increase the chances. But it's not a perfect science, and everyone's cycle is different too. The reason they say this works is because sperm that carry the Y (boy) chromosome tend to move faster but die quicker. The sperm that carry the X (girl) chromosome swim slower but live longer. So depending your cycle and when you have sex there is some validity to this theory.
