Birth control and periods

So I started taking birth control 4 weeks ago because I started my period that Friday. On the third week I started spotting during the time I usually ovulate so I spotted for a whole week and had light cramps then last week when I started taking my brown pills I got my period a week earlier than what I was supposed to. I ended 2 days ago (finally) and I took my last brown pill today (Thursday night) and I start my new (second) pack tomorrow. Is that normal that I spotted while ovulating and had my period a week early?
