Choose to stop breastfeeding?

Question

When did you choose to stop breastfeeding and what was your reasoning behind it? My baby is 3 months old and has only had breast milk so far, but I'm going back to work next week and I'm questioning if I can stay committed without supplementing with formula.

It's just a personal choice you have to make. I breastfed/pumped for 2 months. I stopped shortly before going back to work. Breastfeeding/pumping was starting to make me depressed. I was resenting feedings, time with baby, etc. For me, stopping then was the best decision. I could have pumped at work, but I was already overwhelmed going back to work, it was just too much. (It was partly bc my husband works 24  hours on, 48 off. The days he works, I drive 35 minute one way to pick our baby up from mil's house. She picks him up from my house in the morning, but I have to go get him after work.)

I supplemented rarely when needed up to 6 mos and now her nutrition is 50/50 at 10mos.

I go a year or until my child stops. I work full time and I hate pumping, seriously hate it. But I suck it up and tough it out for a year.

I stopped pumping at work when my son turned 12 months, because he took well to whole milk at daycare. We still breastfeed once a day or so at 15 months currently.

I started supplementing this week. My daughter is 9 weeks old and I'll be going back to work in four weeks. I know my job and how breaks work there- there's no way l be able to pump enough to keep up with my daughters demand and I really didn't want to worry about leaking and engorgment at work. It's going really well so far! It's all up to you!

1 year and I was 6 months pregnant. I made the decision to go for a year and that's what I was determined to do. I'm a teacher so I can't always have a break to pump in my 3 hour span but I made it work as best as I could. I could have gone longer but it was hard for me to pump, be pregnant and take care of myself to grow another baby in a healthy way. If you want to do it you can! You also are surprisingly productive when your strapped to a desk

I think it's a personal choice when you want to stop. No one should make you feel bad about stopping, at least you made it that far. I go back to work 1 March and my daughter will be almost 4 months. I have been pumping and freezing because she only drinks 2 or 2 in a half oz, maybe 3 on a good day and certain parts of the day I Pump like 8-10oz.. for the last 2 or 3 weeks of February I plan to get a pumping routine going as in if I was back at work. I'm going to pump during the day, give her bottles and nurse at night.

I breastfed until my son was 9 months. I was 4 months pregnant and my supply completely dried up or I would have breastfed until at least a year. I don't are why there is any reason you can't continue to breastfeed while working. I did it for months and will be doing it again with my newborn. There is no need to supplement.
