What do you know about Pap Smear?

I had previously heard that you MUST get a Pap Smear right after you had unprotected sex for the first time, just to check for any cancer cells, and it didn't matter your age. I had made up my mind about getting one (I'm 18) even though it's been a while since I had unprotected sex for the first time, when I heard that a gynecologist will only get you one if you're 21. Is that right? Does it make any sense? Is that a silly matter about age or is it because you're only at risk after 21?

I got my first Pap smear when I was 15 years old and before I was sexually active. My mom wanted me in the pill and they would not have put me on the pill without a Pap smear. After being put on the pill, I had to get a Pap smear annually.

My gyno told me your first one should be either 3 years after you become sexually active or when you're 21, whichever comes first

Ur supposed to get ur first pap when u become sexually active or depending on ur doctor and age when u start birth control. It's important to do it for cancer screening even things unrealated to sex. 😉👌🏽
