Wishing for a third arm while breastfeeding...

Justine

Sometimes these breastfeeding book suggestions are so ridiculous when you're frustratingly trying to get through a feed so you can go back to sleep! Like how they suggest you set up these complex pillow fortresses. As though the half hour or so feeding every 8-12 times a day -plus the diaper changes and half hour cuddle to sleep- isn't taking up enough time! Add on this prep and contortion to the struggle of making sure the latch is right just before adding more pillows! Then make sure there's foot contact, hand free to compress and finger to help unlatch. Forget that itch on your breastfeeding shoulder till baby is done. Then the flipping "pump the other breast while feeding" suggestion! Have any of you tried pumping while holding a baby!?!?! It's insanity! Where is this third arm I assume all breastfeeding literature thinks we grow after birth!?!? Huh!? Or is it a special order item I didn't notice in the breastfeeding supply section?

Sorry. Just ranting after trying to adjust a shallow latch while pumping and adjusting my pillow empire all while ignoring my itchy nose... my super mom third arm is busy doing the dishes and sweeping the floors atm!
