What to expect during labour?

I know about contractions and all of that, and that it will be really painful but I don't feel very prepared for giving birth and it's only three weeks away!

Can I just have some advice or your personal experience? Just so I know what to expect, I know that everyone has a different experience but I want to be prepared

My labor felt like very bad period cramps and low back pain. My midwife came in to check me about 3 times during my 6 hour labor. The nurse called for her when it was time to push and of course she came in then 😊

I didn't have an epidural but my sister-in-law did, she got it when she was about 5cm dilated. She did have to get a catheter put in after she got the epidural.

During my labor I could drink water and apple juice, but they didn't offer any foods so I don't think that was an option. Honestly the last thing I wanted to do was eat lol.

Any other questions? I'll try to help 😊 it's really overwhelming and it's hard to know what to expect!

I'm curious about this too! Like when/ how often does the doctor come in, when can you get the epidural, can you eat while you wait, do you have to get a catheter if you have an epidural, etc. etc. haha. So much to know!
