claiming a new baby on tax returns??

My daughters fathers and I are not married, but still together, and we were wondering who should claim her on our taxes? We share a household together, and all her expenses, however he makes significantly more money than I do. Would I get more back if I claim her since I make less (<$20,000/year), or would he get more back for making more (>$80,000/year)?

If he makes that much more, he is taxed at a higher rate than you so claiming the exemption would be more beneficial to him (for example, if he is taxed at 25% and you are taxed at 15%, reducing his taxable income would save more in taxes). I agree that you should try it both ways though because some credits are phased out at certain income levels.
