How Do I Tell My Boyfriend I Want A Baby?

My boyfriend and I haven't been together that long but I honestly really want a baby. The only problem is that we're both 17 (nearly 18) and I'm worried he'd freak out.

I know we're both still young and to start with I just thought that it was a phase as one of my cousins had a baby lately and another cousin is due in February

But now it's been about 6 months sine I've been feeling this way.

What do I do?

You need to babysit. No just date nights. Pick up a very regular babysitting gig with a toddler or infant so you can get a glimpse of how hard they are. What I tell a lot of young girls is to also go to the nearest Walmart or target and walk through the baby aisles. Look at the price of a car seat, and formula, and diapers. Newborns go through them like crazy. Like a pack a day. Sit down and Google the average cost of delivering in a hospital. Look up the cost of apartments in your area. Can you afford that with the job you have now? And if you don't have a job, how do you expect to pay for everything? Being a mom is an incredible thing, when you can financially support a baby. Sure people do it at young ages, but they are so stressed out about finances that they can't even enjoy being a new parent. Maybe watch one of the babies in your family for 24 hours by yourself. Waking up all night and doing the feelings, etc. Just make sure you're thinking about the big picture, not just the short term.

You're 17, calm down. You don't have your own place to live and you're not financially independent from your parents. You would have to drop out of school to take care of the baby, but you would also need a job to pay for the thing. Your boyfriend will probably not want a baby either this young. His parents and your parents would probably be paying for most of the baby's needs. Just because babies are cute or whatever doesn't mean you need your own right now. They are so much work and so much money and so much time. And it's not a baby forever, it grows up and then you'll have to find them a school and drive them to soccer practice and ugh girl don't voluntarily get pregnant and have a baby at 17 please!

I'm 19. Still not a parents but I baby sit two babies. I babysit my 19 months nephew since he was 6 months and let me tell you it's hard. You get tired fast. Especially at his age now it's constantly running around him watching his every step. When he was a baby it was just eat, sleep, poop, pee every other minute. Now I babysit my 9 month old niece and she had some health problems so that was hard. I usually buy them diapers or stuff like that when I can and let me tell you: EVERYTHING AT THE BABY STORE IS EXPENSIVE! Just wait because it made me realize I'm no where near ready for a baby.
