No more condoms

Okay so I never been a fan of condoms but my bf only has ever used condoms so I would be the first he would go bare with....I wanted to start going on birth control but I don't want to be bleeding until it settles in my system which is what I've been through in the past. Any recommendations to a good BC with no major side effects? & How long into the pill does it take for me to be completely worry free ?
