Where's All the 'Take No Shit' Mommas?

I keep seeing all these stories of women being turned away because the hospitals don't believe they're in labor and I'm sitting here thinking, Hell no. Like we know when we're in labor and you have the audacity to turn a mom away because you don't believe her? That blows my mind, man.

If I go into labor and someone tries sending me home or makes some snide comments, I feel like I'd rip them a new one.

I wish so many of you mommies didn't have to deal with staff that doubt your ability to know when you're in labor.

I get it if you're not laboring fast enough and they send you home but all these other stories I've read of being sent home just because the staff doesn't believe them drives me nuts.

What can you do, really? I've known women who were POSITIVE they were in labor and were so upset they were sent home... and had their healthy babies a week or two later. I think that's far more common than women being turned away, and having a baby on their toilet. It's great to be assertive, but you also don't want to waste your time and money forcing them to keep you. Or telling off a nurse who works her ass off, for doing her job- Doctors look at the facts, and what's right in front of them, because it's right 98% of the time, and because it's their job. The small percentage of women having these super speedy births is not at all the norm. If women are truly convinced they're in labor, it's not illegal to stay in the hospital waiting room, or to stay in the parking lot and listen to your body, but telling off these people who don't want to have to send you home, but can't keep you because they have a set criteria to meet, is useless and classless.

My first pregnancy I did not have a car so I had to rely on the ambulance to get to the hospital. My water broke. I called the paramedics. They said "oh it's not that much fluid, you may not be in labor." I said "well can I go check???" I got to the hospital and delivered my son like two hours later. Had I listened to the paramedics I would have been sitting at home looking stupid lol

My doc try to do that when I was preg with my daughter... I went into labor at home I called him to let him know he told me just relax I'm fine and I started yelling at him  lol I'm like no I'm in fucking labor I'm coming to the hosp!  Sure enuf I was

Yes you can be in labor but depending on how much you are dilated, it could still be hours later. The doctors and nurses know A LOT more than you do.
