IUD opinions?

I am going on for a physical on Monday and a big topic I want to discuss with my doctor is birth control. I don't trust myself to have to take a pill everyday and my mom is anti me being on birth control (she's Mormon and doesn't want me to be sexually acive and believe birth control just encourages sex) so I don't want her to be able to find pills around as I go and stay with my parents a few times a month. I am curious on people's idea of IUDs? Pros? Cons? Symptoms, good and bad? Thanks!!!

I have the kyleena! It's amazing! It's just like the skyla but instead of 3 years, it's 5. It's small, and made for women who do not have children. It's the one my gyno recommended.

Mormon is not anti birth control 😂 I've been Mormon my entire life, I currently live in Provo, Utah which is like Mormon capital of the world and literally everybody I know uses birth control. So your mom is weird for her own reasons, not for her religion.

I had mirena for 2 years and paragard for 1 year. I had bad reactions to both. Acne, mood swings, and weight gain with mirena. I got copper toxicity, back pain, and bled like I'd been shot with paragard.

Thanks for all your responses ladies! My doctor was extremely nice and put me on the pill as I've never been on any form of birth control and she said in her experience girls who have not had children experience a lot of discomfort with an IUD. She also said the pill can be a good way to start "breaking" into the new hormone shift. And if I experience any side effects I can just stop taking it, whereas an IUD is a little more difficult to just stop. Unfortunately this presents issues with my mom possibly finding them while I'm home visiting so I'll just have to work at being discreet! Thanks again ladies!

I'm currently going through bad reactions with the Mirena: mood swings, weight gain,  cramps all the time, sore breasts, and really bad headaches. 
It is all dependent on the person though, for some people it is a life saver and for others they have bad reactions.
