Period blood?

Hey lovlies, so im still kinda new to this whole period thing. Ive always had a heavy flow and i change my pads every 2-4 hours. For the past like 6-8 months my blood has been getting increasingly darker. I had started today and im a week early. So, i didnt plan to get my period to day and leaked onto my white panties. I was going to put my pad down and realized tha blood was basically black. Is this something i should get looked at or should i just be fine?
