Baby Shower: opening gifts?

Question

So my baby shower is coming up soon. I now live 4 hours away from home so I will be driving into town to go to my shower. 
I know opening gifts is kind of expected at a baby shower but I personally hate having to watch gifts be opened. But more than that I don't get to go home very often and I don't really want to spend an hour opening gifts :( I really want to spend as much time with my friends and family as possible before the baby is here. 
What would y'all do? Is it horrible to not open gifts?

I know for me going to a shower and the anticipation of watching my gift get opened is exciting. I think it is to be expected but it is YOUR shower so do what makes you happy.

No some people choose not to, and it makes sending thank you cards easier because you can keep track of the gifts instead of relying on someone else

Maybe take a break in between gifts. I love watching gifts get open and all the cute stuff.

I don't see a problem with opening gifts at the shower as long as it's not long & drawn out lol. It's mainly done for your guests. They just wanna see ya face when u open their gift lol.

I was back and forth but my mom said I needed to cause others wanted to see me open gifts. So I guess I'm going to.  But honestly I enjoyed opening gifts the next day just me hubby and my parents the day after my wedding. Over my bridel shower where I opened my gifts in front of everyone.  I always kinda feel rushed if people are watching I guess.

I didn't want to open gifts at mine and I had a lot. But people want to see their gift opened and you happy to see it so I did. Everyone leaves after. It was fine.

I didn't open gifts at mine until everybody left...I was too tired to open them all 😂
