how can I get my kitten to stop shitting behind the tv?!

She has a litter box that is always available to her and she knows how to use it, she pees and poops in there all the time but for some reason she still goes an poops behind the tv stand. What can I put there to discourage her? Ty

As a vet tech my advice to you is to take her in for an exam. There could be a medical reason why she's dedicating in inappropriate places. If there's nothing medically wrong- it could be behavioural. Has there been something stressing her out? Any changes in the house? There should be 1 litter box per floor. Is it changed daily? My advice is to ask your vet. Otherwise the problem could escalade and become much worse. Good luck 💜😺

Put her food bowl there, cats won't go to the toilet where they eat. It's horrible but it really works. I did it with mine for two weeks and have had no problems since 🙂

I would deffo get her checked out first to make sure there is no underlying problem and if there is no problem I would then try the trick with the food bowl as a previous poster suggested, I have tried citrus peel, pepper the lot and it doesn't work. Make sure her tray is always clean because some cats are super fussy clean freaks and make sure it's in a place where there's nothing she's afraid to pass by or a place that maybe scaring her, good luck 😻

Put double sided tape there and around that area. Once she steps there and finds how annoying it is to escape, she'll be completely turned off from ever going there again.

Lemon pepper mix worked really well for us when our kittens kept using our bath as their toilet. We used a whole jar and sprinkled it all over but only had to leave it there for a couple of days and after that we didn't have any more problems.

Give her at least one more litter tray; they can be very picky and if one has a smell they don't like, they won't use it.
Make sure when you clean the area behind the tv you use a special product; once a cat 'marks' they will usually continue as it retains the smell.
Have you tried switching up different types of litter? I have a picky cat that only likes the clay type, whilst the others prefer pellets and crystals.

My Cat was going non stop behind the washer for a while. I had to block off access to it and if I saw him trying to go back there, I'd scare him with the broom. Then I'd put him in the litter box. Every time he even looked in that direction, he got out in the litter box. I slowly took down the things blocking access to the washer and he continued going in the litter box. Just keep showing the cat where to go and spray him with a squirt bottle if you see him heading that way. It'll make the behavior stop very quickly

Put a little pepper down for abit. They sniff before they go. Won't take long to get it out of the habit and then you can vacuum the pepper up
