Vacation after baby?

My and my husband's first child is due mid-May. We are super excited. Every year for the past few years, we have gone on vacation to Cedar Point and a few other amusement parks; my husband seems to think that this year shouldn't be any different. I told him that he is underestimating how difficult the adjustment is going to be. The baby would be about a month or two old if we were to go on vacation, which is about an 8 hour drive one way. What are your thoughts? Should we just settle for a day trip to the beach and skip the our traditional gig or can we totally do this vacation?

I think you can plan something, but definitely not an amusement park. If you are breastfeeding it's an extremely demanding job, especially the first few months. Many babies cluster feed so literally eating every hour or so. I would imagine you would feel pretty stressed navigating a park with a newborn

My bro and his wife took their daughter on a 12 hr car drive that young and it was fine. Newborns aren't mobile enough to be a problem.. I wouldn't do a plane trip until the baby is immunised . And also make sure you'll be in a place where  baby can receive care if any is needed.  I wouldn't like book anything in advance tho. Like you said, you really won't know how your baby and your life will be till after birth.

I don't have any kids yet but expecting my first in February, of course you would have to make some adjustments but me and my husband are trying to adapt the baby to our lifestyle instead of the other way around. Maybe a month is still too young to go on such a long trip, especially because of vaccinations and baby's immune system still not so strong? But if you could delay a couple of months I think that should be fine
