Anyone going to wait as long as possible to induce?

K.
I've been reading a lot of statistics and I am worried about what I have read for my particular situation. My son is at a -4 station, I am not at all dilated and my cervix is soft. Two of those three factors leave me with a terrible likelihood of a failed induction. My doctor wants to induce at 41w1d because he says I have a narrow inlet (narrow pelvis).

Several articles I've read say the pelvis changes even during labor, and that a doctor cannot tell the limitations of the pelvis before labor.

Most of the women in my family didn't go into labor until 42-43 weeks (aside from my mother, who was induced by choice at 40 weeks and had the labor from hell with me). I am having a growth scan tomorrow and depending on the size of the baby and his condition, I'm contemplating waiting until 42 weeks to reschedule the induction.

My main concern is that he has not engaged and babies that are not engaged make induced labor difficult and often result in c-section; if he is not large or at risk then he might just not be ready.

I don't want to put him at risk, but if he's healthy and I'm healthy, maybe inducing a week early isn't such a good idea. Maybe I should take the risk and see if he engages on his own by 42 weeks?

Another worry is that if my water does break and he's so high up, his cord could come out and cause a cord prolapse. I don't want to lose my baby.

I'm so scared and no one understands the weight of this decision.

I don't know what to do.
