First period after coming off birth control?
Hi all :)
I'm getting a bit anxious so bear with me!
Basically, aside from my withdrawal bleed, this is my first proper period since coming off birth control. I used to have medium flow before birth control that lasted about 4-5 days. Got implant fitted, bled fairly medium for about 9-10 months then started to only have very light, short periods. A few days after my implant fitting, I got a pelvic infection which is now believed to have caused scarring in my uterus. This is known as Asherman's Syndrome and the main symptom is a change in periods (becoming much lighter or stopping altogether) but due to having the implant in, which is notorious for making periods lighter or stop completely, I have no idea which of the two caused my shorter, lighter af.
Anyway, so my first af started yesterday and it was very light and brown and only noticeable when I wiped. Then come the afternoon, it got a bit heavier and the blood was dark red. When I took my tampon out later on though, it was covered in thick brown looking discharge and when I went to the toilet before bed, it was still brown but more watery and there was a small clot. Then this morning when I went to the toilet, there was only a tiny amount of brown when I wiped again. I'm starting to panic that perhaps my scarring is worse than I first thought and obviously I'm ttc and so I'm getting anxious that if that's the case, I'm not going to be able to conceive at all.
I know brown blood is common at the beginning or end of a period but is it normal to go brown to red to brown again in the space of 24 hours? I just assumed my first real period would be quite heavy but I only had about an hour or two of heavier red bleeding yesterday otherwise it's been light and brown. Any advice or reassurance would be greatly appreciated!
