pregnant? a little insight please.

A little nervous, my period is 24 days late. I stopped using my birth control about a month ago because finals week was crazy and then I forgot to fill the prescription to come home for break. About 12 days ago I had unprotected sex(stupid I know). I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and also stopped my use of metformin for the same amount of days. I'm a little worried because I'm unsure if my hormones out of whack throwing my period off or if I'm pregnant. Any insight?? It would be very appreciated. I plan on taking a test when I go back to school Sunday.
