I got dry????

So my boyfriend and i were in the middle of having sex yesterday, and I was in the doggy position- when, all of a sudden, I just got like really dry. My vagina got super dry, and even though we were using a condom that lube inside and out it hurt so much for him to try to enter me. So of course I told him and we stopped and we tried to go back to our foreplay moves but I just couldn't get wet again, and my vagina hurt so much- it still hurts. We're currently taking a break from sex so that I can recover. What does that mean? How can I prevent this from happening next time? Also, is there any suggestions as to how I can help ease this soreness?
