Is it still possible to find a hidden twin?

I'm talking after 3 ultrasounds  (4 weeks, 6 weeks and 8 weeks) all showing one baby.. it it possible for the ultrasound at 12 weeks to show a surprise hidden twin?

Or is the medical field so advanced it would have been found by now?

I actually asked my tech this question because twins run on both mine and my husband's sides, she kind of laughed at me and said no she would have seen it by now.

My sister was told she was having 1 girl until 6 months then they said oops it's 2 boys. They are identical twins too. Machine was old and malfunction at gender ultrasound
